Sheila
Cover teaches kindergarten at STCS. She has taught in
Catholic schools for 15 years, thirteen of those years
at the kindergarten level. Mrs. Cover received her B.S.
in elementary education and art education from Western
State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Mrs. Cover enjoys
gardening, walking, reading and watching her sons'
sporting events. She also loves teaching at STCS!

Mrs.
Virginia Lacerte is the assistant director of the STCS
pre-school. Mrs. Lacerte received her associate degree
in Early Childhood Education from Otero Jr. College in
La Junta, Colorado. Mrs. Lacerte enjoys quilting and
sewing.

Alice
F. Brunetto is currently a fourth grade homeroom and an
intermediate level math and science teacher at STCS.
She has been an educator for 36 years, teaching in
elementary, middle, and high school positions. She
received her B.A. in Elementary Education from the
University of Southern Colorado (now CSU-Pueblo).
Mrs. Brunetto currently resides in Pueblo West and
has lived in Colorado all but six years of her life.
She enjoys gardening, sewing, crafts, and most
everything that utilizes power tools. Mrs. Brunetto
enjoys teaching Sunday School and singing in her church
choir.

Anne
E. Gishpert is the third grade teacher at STCS. She has
taught in Catholic schools in Pennsylvania and New
Jersey. Ms. Gishpert received her B.S. in Elementary
Education from the University of Southern Colorado. A
native Coloradoan, Ms. Gishpert loves history, watching soccer, reading,
spending time in the mountains, and traveling.

Becky
Hanratty is a second year teacher. She
received her BA in science at CSU - Pueblo
with a degree in Liberal Studies/Elementary
Education. She has a family of six which
keeps her very busy. With her background in
science, Becky has been able to work with
Project Wild. She lives in Beulah.

Carol
Fletcher, Music and MS Language Arts/Reaading
Teacher. Carol is a first year teacher who
has a BA in Theology and working on her
teaching certification at CSU-Pueblo. Her
music ministry has consisted of Teen Life,
the Cathedral Teen Choir and the choir at
Our Lade of Meadows. Carol lives in Beulah
where she was music minister at Our Lady of
Lourdes. Carol has also been the DRE at the
Cathedral in Pueblo for three years.

Constance (Connie) Covington is the first grade teacher at STCS.
Mrs. Covington has more than 40 year experience in the teaching
profession. She obtained her B.A. degree from the University of
Northern Colorado in Greeley and her masters degree from
Southern Colorado State College, now CSU-Pueblo. Mrs. Covington
is a native Puebloan and has taught in Denver, Pueblo, and
Elkhart, Indiana.

Gail Sommerfeld, Principal, has 15 years experience in
education. She graduated from the University of Mary in
Bismarck, ND, with a degree in Education and Pastoral
Ministry. After teaching and working in a Catholic
church in North Dakota, her family lived in Montana for
13 years before moving to Pueblo two years ago. Gail is
excited to be a new member to what feels like a family
at St. Therese. When Gail is not busy with her family,
she enjoys reading, scrap-booking, and beading.

Mrs.
Hermine Ryan
teaches K-8 Spanish at
STCS. Mrs. Ryan is a native of Mexico City. She has
experience as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher and
English language coordinator at Acua Kinder Jean
Piaget in Mexico and as a language teacher and
coordinator at Colegio Cristobal Colon in Mexico.
She also taught Spanish at Dolores Huerta Prep in
Pueblo. Mrs. Ryan has a Licentiate degree
(equivalent to B.S.) in Early Childhood Education
from the Luz Maria Serradell Private Teacher
Training School in Mexico.

John Fabian is a native
Pueblo resident. He has a wide background of
experience that includes time as a student
research assistant on the Pawnee National
grasslands, surveying, national park ranger,
and education. He has a bachelor’s degree
in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree
in Computers in Education. He has had thirty
years of middle and high school teaching
experience throughout the state of Colorado.
John and his family returned to Pueblo over
20 years ago so he could be near his father,
who was struggling with health challenges.
John’s love for the outdoors is
integrated into everything he does. He was
involved in the Boy Scouts of America
throughout his childhood, is an avid hunter
and fisherman, and enjoys camping and
touring the beautiful state of Colorado. In
addition to teaching, he is a well-respected
farmer on the St. Charles Mesa and is a
regularly scheduled Dutch Oven cooking
demonstrator for Sportsman’s Warehouse in
Colorado Springs. John is married and has
two children, Christy and John, III. His
wife, Kathy, is an elementary reading
specialist in Pueblo City Schools. Christy,
a dental hygienist, and her husband, Peter,
are living in Cleveland, Ohio where Peter is
completing his final year of dental school.
His son, John, is a senior at CSU-Fort
Collins, double-majoring in Agricultural
Business and Soil and Crop Science.

Meet Lisa Marie Bachicha – our new 2nd
grade teacher! Lisa is a recent graduate of CSU-Pueblo,
where she earned her BA in Elementary Education. She
also holds a Colorado State Teaching Certificate.
She and her husband, David, are both Pueblo natives.
They have two sons, David who is a freshmen at PCC,
and Kalob, who is a 7th grader at Corwin
Middle School. In her spare time she enjoys
swimming, working out, and spending time with her
family. David is one of the football coaches for
Corwin Middle School, so Lisa’s family spends a lot
of time at football events. Lisa also coordinates
fundraisers for their football team.

Mrs.
Marcia Furuto serves as secretary at STCS. Mrs. Furuto
has experience as an administrative assistant in public
and parochial schools and as a private day care
provider. She also managed and operated her private
business for several years. Mrs. Furuto has been the
secretary at STCS since the school began.

Maria McGrath teaches religion at STCS.
She is also the pastoral assistant, DRE, bookkeeper, and
youth minister at St. Aloysius in Rye. Mrs. McGrath has
a B.S. in Law Enforcement Administration from Youngstown
State University in Ohio and a B.S. in Business
Administration with an Accounting emphasis from the
University of Southern Colorado (now CSU-Pueblo). She
will complete her Master’s Degree in Religious Education
in April, 2008, from Loyola University of New Orleans.
Mrs. McGrath and her husband, Don, have two Children,
Chris and Kara, and live in Colorado City.

Marilyn Wren is the St. Therese 5th grade homeroom
teacher. Mrs. Wren also teaches language arts to the
fourth graders. Mrs. Wren is a graduate of Adams State
College. She has done postgraduate coursework through
the University of Phoenix and CSU-Pueblo.
Mrs. Wren has an extensive background in art and has
worked with children of all ages in a number of
capacities. She returns to the teaching field following
a twelve year position in the counseling field.
Mrs. Wren enjoys traveling to different islands,
snorkeling, and reading. Most of all, she treasures the
time she spends with her family.

Monsignor
Marvin J. Kapushion serves as Chaplain of St. Therese
Catholic School. Monsignor Kapushion is a Catholic
priest serving in the Diocese of Pueblo. He is a
licensed clinical social worker and previously served as
principal of STCS. He is president of the STCS Board of
Directors. Monsignor Kapushion is pastor of St.
Aloysius Church in Rye, Colorado.

Rick Baker is the Physical Education teacher at St.
Therese. He believes that P.E. not only stands for Physical
Education time, but also for Pretty Exciting
time. He incorporates this philosophy into the daily
activities that occur during his class time. He
believes that children are truly worth it and deserve
the best that can be offered to them, physically,
emotionally, and spiritually.
Mr. Baker is
entering his 26th year of education. During
that time he has served students from Kindergarten
through High School. In addition to P.E. he has taught
in the classroom, coached Basketball, Baseball, and
Track at the High School level and most recently served
five years as the Principal of LaJunta Intermediate
School. Mr. Baker believes his gift is to serve and
support, and he enjoys doing this for the students and
staff of St. Therese Catholic School.

Rosemary
Runyan is the director of the STCS pre-school. She has
30 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood
Education. She has enjoyed being a pre-school director
for 25 years. Mrs. Runyan received her Early Childhood
training from Southern Colorado State College (now CSU-Pueblo).
She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and
doing Pilates and Yoga.
