| The St. Therese Catholic School strives to
make Catholic education affordable through a
scholarship program. Funds for the scholarship
program are generated through the contributions
of generous donors and awards are based on a
family’s demonstrated financial need and
availability of funds.
The school has elected to use the School and
Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), an
organization that helps private schools
determine the financial needs of their
applicants. Parents complete the Parent
Financial Statement (PFS) for submission
directly to SSS along with a processing fee.
The information is reviewed and a Report of
Family Contribution, Which provides an analysis
of a family’s finances and includes a suggested
contribution for educational expenses, is sent
directly to the school.
The Scholarship Committee will review the
report and determine the amount of scholarship,
if any, to be granted to the family. A number
of factors are considered in determining whether
or not a family will qualify for a scholarship;
these include, but are not limited to, parental
commitment to the school, the family’s history
of participation. Or in the case of new
families a commitment to participate the
Alliance for Catholic Education and volunteer
time given to the fund raising efforts of the
school. The process established in conjunction
with SSS has proven a successful formula for the
distribution of these awards. Families with
demonstrated financial needs are encouraged to
apply.
Application packets are available in January
for the following school year. St. Therese
Catholic School stresses the importance of
confidentiality in the review of the PFS and
amounts of scholarships awarded to families.
THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE AND ST. THERESE
CATHOLIC SCHOOL HOLD ALL APPLICATIONS AND
RELATED MATERIAL IN STRICTEST CONFIDENCE.
The Scholarship Committee, comprised of Board
members, will review applications and make every
effort to match the demonstrated financial need
of every student who qualifies for admission and
wishes to attend St. Therese Catholic School.
Preference will be given to currently enrolled
students who demonstrate a need and families
with a demonstrable need who have more than one
child enrolled. Unfortunately, to meet the need
of every family in every situation is not
possible.
The Principal and Chairperson of the
Scholarship Committee will notify the family in
writing of the committee’s decision and the
amount of award, if any. A new PFS is required
for each school year. There is no guarantee
that a family will receive an award for the same
amount as the pervious year.
To reserve space in a class payment of the
registration and book fee is required and is not
refundable. If a child/children enrollment in
the school is contingent upon receiving
financial assistance and the book fee and
registration are not paid the child/children may
be placed on a waiting list for enrollment but a
place will not be reserved. It takes a minimum
of 30 days from the date the material is
submitted to determine eligibility for financial
assistance.
